Encrypted on your device with a key derived from your passphrase before it syncs. We store ciphertext and cannot read it. Lose the passphrase and we cannot recover the data.

Who can read it.
Most cloud tools can read what you keep with them. That isn’t a scandal; it’s how they show it back to you, and Standard works the same way. It is also how a breach, a subpoena or a future owner could read it. Vault is the other kind: records encrypted on your device before they sync.
If you lose your passphrase.
Because we can’t read your Vault, we also can’t recover it if you lose your passphrase. That is the point, and the app makes it clear when you set it up. Standard is the default because it is simpler and recoverable. Vault is there when you want the stronger guarantee, for everything or only the sections you choose, on every plan.
Nothing acts behind your back.
Turnover never logs into a marketplace for you, and never posts, edits or delists a listing. There is no browser extension. Notch works alongside Shopify: orders come in through a CSV you export yourself.
No ads. No data selling.
The business model is old-fashioned: you pay a fair price for the software. There is no advertising business underneath, and we don’t sell your data. You can export everything and leave whenever you like.
