Accounting & invoicing · alternative
The private QuickBooks alternative.
QuickBooks is powerful accounting software, and overkill, over-priced and joyless for a lot of people who just run their own thing. If you want your money, invoices and business in one calmer, private place, is the alternative.
Where QuickBooks wins
QuickBooks is a mature, full double-entry accounting suite with deep payroll, tax filing and accountant tooling. If you have an accountant who lives in it, that has real value.
Where wins
is a private business OS, not just books. It puts invoicing, profit and your actual business apps (reselling, brand, agency…) in one place, and it can be end-to-end encrypted, which no mainstream accounting cloud can say.
Our honest take
I lasted about two months on QuickBooks before I gave up. I was paying for a payroll-and-filing engine to send four invoices a month. If you have staff and an accountant living in it, it earns its keep. If you’re one person who needs to invoice and know your profit, it’s a lorry doing a bike’s job.

Which one is right for you
Pick QuickBooks if…
You need full statutory accounting, payroll and an accountant working inside the same tool.
Pick if…
You want invoicing, profit and your whole business in one private, beautiful app, without accounting-software bloat or the price tag.
Is a full accounting package like QuickBooks?
Not yet, focuses on running your business and its money (invoices, profit, P&L) rather than statutory filing and payroll. For many solo founders that is exactly enough, and your accountant can still take the numbers.
Can I move from QuickBooks to ?
Yes, you can start fresh on free and run them alongside each other while you decide.
