Markup is not margin
This is the one that trips everyone up. Markup is profit as a percentage of your cost. Margin is profit as a percentage of your selling price. A 150% markup sounds huge, but it works out to a 60% margin. When a supplier or a guide quotes a percentage, always check which they mean.
